"Part entertainer, part musical storyteller, and always the consummate musician," Jeffry Jahn has captured the attention of reviewers because of the "visionary impact" he has on programming and musicality, according to the Tucson Citizen. Currently in his eighteenth season as Music Director of the Arizona Repertory Singers, Dr. Jeffry A. Jahn has guided the Arizona Repertory Singers to become the premier vocal ensemble of its type in the Southwest--the ensemble having one of the largest choral performance repertories in the United States.
Jahn received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Arizona, a Masters of Music degree from Wichita State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bethany College. He was a featured soloist for a concert dedicated to and performed for His Majesty King Carl Gustav of Sweden. He has served as Musical Director and Conductor for numerous opera productions including La Boheme, Le Nozze di Figaro, The Dialogue of the Carmelites, Hansel and Gretel, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and Help! Help! the Globolinks. Jahn's opera roles include Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Grosvenor (Gilbert and Sullivan's Patience), Nanki-Poo (Mikado), Almaviva (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) and Ferrando (Cosi fan tutte). In addition to his vocal and operatic performances Dr. Jahn served as Director of the University of Arizona Community Chorus for two years.
Dr. Jahn is the former Director of Music and Fine Arts Chair at Palo Verde Christian School at Pusch Ridge. Under his leadership, the school's top choral ensemble, the PVC Mixed Ensemble, received numerous awards for outstanding performance and service to the community including two perfect scores (1993, 1994) at the Southeast Region Solo and Ensemble Music Festival. In addition to his teaching activities, Dr. Jahn served as Regional Governor and Choir Chairman for the Southeast Region of the Arizona Music Educators Association (AMEA) and as the Southeast Regional Solo and Ensemble Festival Chairman.
Currently, Dr. Jahn is Director of Worship Arts at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church in Tucson. His position is responsible for all aspects of worship in the life of the Church: music, drama, visual/electronic media, and art. He serves as Conductor of three choirs: Chancel Choir, Chancel Bell Choir, and Joyful Noise, and administrates a music program that includes over eight music ensembles, two small chamber instrumental ensembles, as well as four organists, soloists and a music program that includes over 80 members. He is also a music arranger, composer and chef.
