Desert Songs CD

Desert Songs CD Cover A gem of creative collaboration, Desert Songs is as uniquely descriptive of the Sonoran Desert as the animals it depicts. This song cycle, enhanced by an array of intriguing and distinctive percussion instruments, allow the listener to visualize the racing lizard, the coiled rattlesnake, the buzzard gliding above the desert floor, the Cactus Wren safely ensconced among the cactus thorns, the old Desert Tortoise lumbering across the vast open spaces, the coyotes calling from hill to hill.

The nine songs were composed by G. Bradley Bodine under a commission from the Arizona Repertory Singers, Gary Cook, the Animas Music Festival of Durango, Colorado, and John Pennington. The words are from a book entitled Desert Voices, by local Tucson author, Byrd Baylor.
